Planio (a Redmine hosting service) has launched today!

Added by Jan from Planio www.plan.io about 14 years ago

Hi everybody:

We're happy to announce the launch of Planio a web-based, integrated project management solution based on — of course — Redmine!

We've been working with Redmine internally since 2007 and we've recommended and installed it for a number of customers. Modeling this business into a hosted service was a natural consequence.

A big "Thank you" goes out to the entire Redmine community for an awesome product. We are very grateful for all the effort that has been — and still is — put in this project. We hope to continue to contribute to this in every way we can, be it by releasing code (like PluginHoptoadServer or PluginGitosis), helping out in the forums, and generally spreading the word.

If you'd like to try Planio, we'd be thrilled to see you sign up at http://plan.io and try one of our plans. They come all with ready-to-use SVN and Git repositories.

Additionally, if you are like us and have customers for whom Redmine might be a great fit, but don't like to install it yet again, drop us a line and we can work out commission/affiliate terms.

Thanks again, warm regards

hi,
you should consider setting a default locale for those pages that are not yet localized...
http://plan.io/en
gives links to /features which triggers an error 500

cheers,
Jérémy.

Congratulations to you from your friends and competitors at PMP HQ http://www.pmphq.com.

@jérémy, thanks for letting us know. It wasn't the locales but a problem with radiant's caching. Anyways, this has been fixed... :)

Igor Balk (PMP), thanks for your kind words and shame on you for plugging your link as well :-D

But of course! I would also say that PMP HQ is much more affordable from what I can see from your pricing structure :)

And we also offer affiliate commission program and I reiterate our pledge to support Redmine open source project by making monetary donation to it for every account created with promo code REDMINE. Feel free to contact us at support [at] pmphq.com if you have any questions, requests.

Thanks for pointing this out Igor. From what I see, Planio has a much better offer:

  • our plans are more affordable
  • we even have an entirely free plan
  • our plans come with svn and git built right in
  • we're donating code and advice, not just money

But let's not start an argument here. Maybe people should decide for themselves. Our signup page is at http://plan.io/pricing (We don't require you to fill out a ton of fields and we dont need your PayPal details upfront, either!)

:) Jan

Jan:

I know I congratulated you privately but I also wanted to say it here. Launching a product is hard; I'm working on my own product based on Redmine which is launching in a few days. I'm sure as time goes on we will all be able to contribute back to the Redmine project to improve it for everyone. I've already discovered a few things from running the Redmine Demo under heavy load and I have some great features lined up for my product.

Good luck and once again, congratulations on launching!

Eric Davis

Thank you very much Eric. I am (I guess we all are) looking forward to your product launch. Please let me know if you need a hand with anything.

Glad to see SaaS offerings of Redmine sprouting up. These type of services are badly needed for development shops. When you factor in the amount of time and energy that goes into setting up and maintaining Redime it is normally cheaper to outsource. This is especially true when the opportunity cost is factored in.

On another note, Google just opened up their Google Apps Marketplace yesterday. I think there is a big opportunity to sell Redmine through this marketplace. See http://www.google.com/enterprise/marketplace/home for more information.

Thanks for your kind words, Rick.

Regarding Google's Marketplace: we've been following these developments with great interest and were thinking along the same lines. Which kinds of integrations with Google's App offerings could be a value add in your opinion?

RE: Planio (a Redmine hosting service) has launched today! - Added by Rick Vugteveen about 14 years ago

Simple user account provisioning with single sign on would be an excellent start. Beyond that, calendar integration could be interesting, as would showing google docs related to a project within Redmine. I wouldn't worry about any of these extra for release 1.

Apparently, one can just sign up and list a product in the marketplace without even having the slightest form of integration. That's what PMP HQ did, right? :)

Well, we just did that as well with Planio to get a feeling for the marketplace. But we're working on a more meaningful integration, to be launched very soon. Thanks, Rick, for your suggestions!

And of course, we'll make sure to contribute at least some of the results back to the Redmine community.

Bah, Jan I think you can do better then that :) We did some integration with Google apps for calendaring. We also working on some more interesting integration which we plan to contribute back to the community as well.

Just a quick update, we have put up a new *Redmine Hosting* microsite which has some more details on our hosting infrastructure (e.g. we love the planet and have zero CO2 emission!), our hosted SVN and Git repositories, customization options and plugins. That is all. Thanks :)
