redmine on Hostgator

Can anybody here let me know whether can we install redmine on hostgator. Hostgator support says that their ruby version is old and cannot be installed. inspite of that , if i try to install , it give me lot of error saying gems missing , and rake command doesnt work ..
so if there is any possible , please tell how to install it on hostgator.
have you ever found a solution?
