Is it possible to log the change for project settings?

Added by Tony NG over 10 years ago

Hi All,

Is it possible to create an update journal for project settings? For example, if I create a custom field, say Estimated due date, for projects, is it a way to log the change?

Thanks in advance!

Tony

Creation, modification and deletion of (issue) custom fields is not recorded. Custom field value changes however are recorded and displayed; not in the general projects activity but in the issue history itself.

Thanks for the reply!

How about is it possible to record custom field value changes for Projects but not for issues? For example, if I had created a custom field for my project and set some value in it. Then I change it to other values. Is it a way to record the change?

Thanks,

Tony

We're mixing up a lot of things here. So let's start getting clear on this:

  1. the only thing that is currently being journal'ed are changes of values of issue custom fields (as shown in the issue history on the issue view)
  2. changes of custom field values of custom fields of the types (issues, spent time, projects, versions, users, etc.) other than issues are not being journal'ed/recorded
  3. creation, modification and deletion of (all the types of) custom fields themselfs (thus not their values) is not journal'ed/recorded
  4. changes in project settings are not being journal'ed/recorded

To come back to your example where you've created a custom field of the projects type (Estimated due date), changes of its values will not be journal'ed/recorded.

I hope this provides you the answers to your questions. Please let me know if it still doesn't...
