Is it possible to compress old Redmine attachments and extract on the fly when requested?

Hi All,

Don't know if it is possible... But our IT department is concerning about the large disk usage of the Redmine files. Is it possible to compress the old Redmine attachments (files that are > 3 yrs old) and extract them on the fly?
