Embedded Plugin with Javadocs in Subversion Repository

I have a subversion repository directory set up on a local apache server with http:// in Ubuntu Linux 10.04. Each repository includes a javadoc file, but the embedded plugin will only access local file paths. Is there a modification I can make to the plugin to make it able to access http locations?
