Sending notification e-mails with different "From" addressess for each project

Added by Igor Olemskoi (Southbridge) over 15 years ago

Hello,

Is it possible to configure redmine to send notifications with different "From" addresses for each project?

I need it to register users replies automatically (users has no access to redmine via web because each issue is confidential) and want to separate issues by project e-mail. I'm using redmine as a Ticket system.

Thanks,
Igor.

Not currently but that might be a good feature request. I changed a private version of Redmine to have the From address to be from the user who made the change. Example:

# I post an update to an issue
From: Eric Davis <redmine@example.com>

# You post a forum reply
From: Igor Olemskoi <redmine@example.com>

I keep the email address so the mail integration would work without any effort but that can be changed to show the user's email address if needed.

Mmm, I mean something other.

I have 2 projects and 2 IMAP E-Mail accounts.

Project One,
Project Two,

All mail for goes to Project One and all mail for goes to Project Two.

When user which is subscribed to Project One receives notification, it should be with From . Then user can click reply and send the answer, which goes to Project One. The same for Project Two. But now there is one global E-Mail and users can answer only to one project if they don't know another project's e-mail address.

I use multiple inbound email addresses (one assigned to each project), and a generic outbound email address. Users are directed to use the inbound email addresses for new issues, but can reply-to the outbound address. They could, i suppose, use the project=x in their message if sending new messages in to the outbound address, but that's too complicated for most.

We would be interested in having this functionality as well. We recently switched to redmine from mantis, and this was a very handy feature to have. Like Igor, we also have projects which are confidential and need to be kept separate from each other. Having visibility to one central email address for replies is not feasible for us. This is definitely a feature that I would like to see!

I would happily help sponsor an initiative to set the "reply" address on outbound emails so they can be replied to directly and the commends appended to the correct ticket and project.

I've previously used systems like Bugzilla that did this quite well. I love everything else about Redmine :-)

Cheers,
Dan

After 4 years, I wonder if there are any updates on this issue.
Otherwise, it is still a very interesting feature to be added.

I think you don't understand how replies to notification emails work and how these are received by Redmine.
There is no need for this feature. Users who receives the notification can reply and their response is queued into the correct project without doing anything else.
Thanks
