How to make Redmine use HTTPS

Added by Austin Farley over 10 years ago

I'm a complete noob when it comes to any linux and web development things. We installed red mine at my work to keep track of our bench log,. Thing is, we want to be able to start using it outside of our office when needed. I'd prefer to make it use HTTPS for security. But like I said, I'm a major noob when it comes to linux and what not so a step by step thing would be very helpful.

I got a pre-built version from bitnami.
It is running on Ubuntu 12.0.4
Here is the information from the "Information" page in redmine
Environment:
Redmine version 2.3.3.stable
Ruby version 1.9.3-p448 (2013-06-27) [x86_64-linux]
Rails version 3.2.13
Environment production
Database adapter Mysql2
Redmine plugins:
no plugin installed

While I've seen the Bitnami stack employed on my project previously, I can't speak intelligently about it. What I can tell you is that setup and configuration of Apache Tomcat using SSL is quite straightforward, and I'm about to run Redmine on Tomcat using SSL once I get this latest version built. The wiki article on that seems quite comprehensive, and that's the route I'll be going. Have a look:
