Choosing redmine ! Please Advice

I am looking forward to choosing redmine as our project management tool.We are a software development firm with above 50 employees.We don't have expertise in ruby ,but does that affect proper usage of redmine in anyways?
We are having expertise in PHP and MySQL.
Else I believe the user guides are quite enough for setting up the installation and usage.
Please Advice?

You can either install redmine and everything else that's needed yourself OR your can just grab the latest BitNami release.
I believe that almost anyone can use redmine with the help of BitNami, so that's always an option.

Being a software development firm, I can't really imagine that you're going to have problems installing yourself either, but of course it depends on the knowledge and skills of your system administrator.

Which OS and DB are you going to use?

The guides found in redmine.org-wiki support many plattforms and methods of installation. Installation does not require ruby-knowledge (at least I had none).

A good overall guide is Andriy's book: http://blog.andriylesyuk.com/about/

It's definitely worth reading before starting with redmine.
