Upgrade from Redmine 1.1.2 to newest stable on Debian

Hello there. I have just got the assignment to upgrade our old Redmine to the newest. Our OS is Debian 6.0.10 which I also will upgrade to Debian 8 after the Redmine upgrade.
- How shall I do the update ? Start with Redmine and upgrade to 1.2.0 and then 2.0.0 ? Or take 1.2.1, 1.2.2 etc.
- We are using postgresql 8.4.21.
Can anyone give me som advice ?
