Best way to upgrade Redmine from 1.3 to 3.x

Hello all,
i have an old Redmine Version, which I want upgrade from 1.3 to 3.x (current version).
I have found an introduction RedmineUpgrade. Is this possible or do i need a intermediate step (e.g. from Version 1.3 to Version 2 and next from Version 2 to Version 3).
