Apple FTDI driver does not display in Comm port in C H I R P

I have verified that the Apple FTDI driver is installed and working. When I plug the Boafeng UV5R Programming Cable in under System Report USB I see the USB Serial Controller display but when I open "c h i r p" (wow I kept getting blocked from using that acronym) and try to Download from Radio I do not see the USB Serial Controller as an option. Is there another step I need to take to see it?
