Looking for reliable release notes plugin

My understanding is "changelog" functionality went away from Redmine recently? We're using Redmine 1.4.4 available for our Linux distribution. I've installed and was trying to use a release notes plugin, and it works, to a point. Then fails to deal with some sort of edge use case or another, and cripples our release notes capability. I don't personally have time to deal with Ruby or Rails or anything to troubleshoot and fix it myself, or I would. So either someone has fixed it, the author sees his way to make it right for the Redmine community (which is glad to use it, believe me), or we go with some other approach. Suggestions? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...
