So far I changed in the
init.rb
file of the plugin the following:

I'm not sure that this is actually the correct way to to so under Redmine 5.1.x. Is it?

But my real problem is in the line of
init.rb
:

require 'redcloth3'

That triggers the following error, during executing
bundle exec rake redmine:plugins:migrate RAILS_ENV=production
:

Hello,

we are using Redmine for Tickets and time logs for projects.
Those time logs are the base for project based accounting for our customers.

The problem is that we need our time logs from our developersa at a given date. Unfortunatly some developers edit/change their time logs AFTER that date, creating errors and costly fixes in the accounting.

Therefore we would like to have the possibility to disable the editing for time logs for dedicated projects or, even better, for time logs for a dedicated period. E.g. disabled editing of time log entries from customer XYZ for dates from 2023-10 to 2023-11.

Someone knew how we can archive that goal?
Plugins: Is there a Google reCAPTCHA plugin available for Redmine version 5.0.5?https://www.redmine.org/boards/3/topics/692062023-12-08T13:03:46ZRabiya J

Hi

Techinal context:

Redmine 5.0.5

First Keycloak instance as IDP

Another Keycloak instance as SP with a dedicated SAML client for Redmine

Plugin alphanodes/redmine_saml version 1.0.6
https://github.com/alphanodes/redmine_saml

I've managed to configure the plugin and client to properly create user and log in.

However I would like to have the ability for user to be created as Redmine Administrators when the proper Group or Role is set in Keycloak.
The plugin seem to be able to:
- in the initializer there is reference to attribute "admin"
- in redmine_saml/lib/redmine_saml/patches/user_patch.rb that "admin" attribute is supposed to be used

I've checked the SAML response sent by Keycloak:

in the "user_patch.rb" file, I've added a block:

if user_attributes[:firstname].present?
user.firstname = user_attributes[:admin]
user.save!
user.reload
end

Reloaded Redmine and SAML log-in fails:
<quote>ActiveRecord::RecordInvalid (Validation failed: Firstname can't be empty)):

plugins/redmine_saml/lib/redmine_saml/patches/user_patch.rb:40:in `find_or_create_from_omniauth'
plugins/redmine_saml/lib/redmine_saml/patches/account_controller_patch.rb:33:in `login_with_saml_callback'</quote>

And checking the SAML logs on Redmine's side and the Redmine metadata, there are no SAML attribute other than those defined by OmniAuth so no "admin" attribute.

Help me please. The plugin allows you to display pdf files without problems. But, it does not convert doc files to pdf and does not display. From the command line it is possible to convert. >soffice --headless --convert-to pdf d:\test.doc --outdir d:\redmine

Ok, I found out three things:

I need to run all "bundle" tasks as root (sudo ...),
but is this 100% correct?

I need to configure anonymous users as members for
the project(s), and configure the plugin with
[x] Use anonymous user while copying issues,
otherwise it won't work.

the cron job command works if I am an hour later,
i.e. if I schedule for 15:20, then it will be executed
at 16:20.
This is although I have this in my config/application.rb:

config.active_record.default_timezone = :local

and the local tz looks good:

HOST:/usr/share/redmine$ timedatectl
Local time: Di 2023-05-23 16:48:10 CEST
Universal time: Di 2023-05-23 14:48:10 UTC
RTC time: Di 2023-05-23 14:48:10
Time zone: Europe/Berlin (CEST, +0200)
System clock synchronized: yes
NTP service: active
RTC in local TZ: no

I would really appreciate it if someone would reply to this.

Dear redmine community,

I have questions regarding the redmine Debian/Ubuntu package 4.0.6-2
in combination with the redmine_recurring_tasks plugin [1]:

{REDMINE_ROOT} seems to be /usr/share/redmine? [2], and they want
me to "git clone" into plugins/, but "plugins" is in
/usr/share/redmine/lib/plugins... what am I missing?

The redmine Debian/Ubuntu package runs as www-data, so do I have
to swap "sudo" with "sudo -u www-data" for all "bundle" invocations?

we made it work using "sudo bundle ..." [3] and we were able to schedule
a task (1. enable it for the project, 2. schedule the task"), but when
we ran the cron job command (just like this, without cron):

cd {REDMINE_ROOT}
sudo bundle exec rake redmine_recurring_tasks:exec RAILS_ENV=production

nothing happened (even though the task was scheduled in the time frame).
Shall I create a bug report at github or did I misunderstand something?

is there an easier way to get "scheduled tasks" in 4.0.6?

[3] Yes, I know "sudo bundle ..." is probably wrong, but the point is
that we don't understand the plugin's functionality ;-)

Hello all,

I have installed a docked Redmine 5.0.5 instance and imported the data from a previous Redmine 4.1.1 instance. In this new instance I installed Redmine-CKEditor-Free from RedmineX for better user text processing. It works fine as usual, but there seems to be a problem with filenames of images uploaded through the Rich Browser that contain special characters. After a few hours of investigation, I found that only the filenames in the Rich Browser are not URL encoded and therefore not found. The question now was why?

The /usr/src/redmine/public/system folder is mapped to a folder on the host system via Docker. Could this be the problem?

Once added to the redmine comment, the images are also displayed, no matter if they contain spaces or other characters, only the view in the browser is incorrect.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem?

Hello everyone!,

the issue has been resolved
Plugins: Redmine Plugin Permissions error https://www.redmine.org/boards/3/topics/684492023-05-10T14:23:55ZJohn D.

Hello everyone!,

Im working on a plugin for work. HR needed some custom functionality and Two requests were made.

1.) When creating an Issue, create 3 sub-Issues for that newly generated issue and copy some data
2.) Add a button to the Issue view to progress through HR's internal workflow

I started with the 1st point (obviously) and managed to extend the Issues controller through a module and use a rails callback to trigger the generation of the sub-issues.

This all worked perfectly fine, no issues.

I moved onto the section task and thought adding a button to trigger a backend function shouldnt be hard, boy was i wrong.

I created the function in the same module that i used to extend the Issues controller because my overall goal is to add as little code to the redmine core as possible for this plugin.

I figured out that you can do a sort of view "overloading" where if you have a view in your plugin with the same name as the view in the controller, as long as your plugin is active, it will take the plugin view and not the native view. This was no issue.

Triggering the function call has been a nightmare. I continually get

Filter chain halted as :authorize rendered or redirected
Completed 403 Forbidden in 706ms (Views: 54.5ms | ActiveRecord: 48.9ms)

I tried the approach found in the rails guides where you can trigger a background function and just return a blank js response but, this didnt help either.

section 4
[[https://guides.rubyonrails.org/v5.0/working_with_javascript_in_rails.html]]

Can someone please help me understand how these permissions work or how to solve this problem? maybe im approaching the issue in the wrong way. I have tried googling countless times but, i always seem to find a solution where they add some functionality to a controller for the plugin and i dont have one and dont want to mess around in the native redmine code

Nice article.
Thanks a lot.
Plugins: RE: Plugin conflict: helper method included by one plugin seems to disappear when anothe...https://www.redmine.org/boards/3/topics/66539?r=68355#message-683552023-04-12T02:31:26ZJens Krämerjk@jkraemer.net

There is no magic involved relating to the module name, it's because of the way how helper methods declared in controllers are made available to views in Rails.

- mega_calendar isloaded before your plugin (due to it's name which comes before your plugin when sorted alphabetically
-
require_dependency 'issues_controller
in mega_calendar will cause IssuesController to be loaded. At this point, the view helpers available in issue views are loaded as well. Any later modifications of existing helper modules by your plugin are at risk to be ineffective. I write at risk because some modifications, like method aliasing, are still possible. But prepend, for example, will not work.

One solution to this problem is to not try to patch existing helper modules, but instead declare your own helper module and call
helper :your_plugin_helper
in your issue controller patch. I outlined that approach a while ago here: https://jkraemer.net/2018/05/add-a-project-settings-tab-for-your-redmine-plugin/
Plugins: SAML Plugin for Redmine 5.0https://www.redmine.org/boards/3/topics/683512023-04-11T09:43:59ZNipun Tharuka

Hi, unfortunately redmine does not permit to set custom fields possible values with API tools (that was the preferred way IMO).
You could permit your users (some of them) to edit custom_fields possible values with this plugin (https://github.com/fathomssen/redmine_edit_custom_fields).

Hi I am running these 2 plugins & would like to know the correct procedure for updating/upgrading them.
Should the existing version be uninstalled first? If so, would this wipe out the data?
Or should the existing plugin files be removed & new version files copied in before updating?
Below are 2 procedures I wrote up but have not executed yet. If they are wrong, please let me know.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

redmine_contacts 4.0.3 --> 4.1.1 (free version being used)
redmine_contacts_helpdesk 3.0.1 --> 3.09

bundle exec rake redmine:plugins:migrate NAME=redmine_contacts VERSION=0 RAILS_ENV=production
$ rm -r /var/www/redmine/plugins/redmine_contacts
Restart Redmine
$ mv new-version_of_redmine_contacts_CRM to /var/www/redmine/plugins/redmine_contacts
$ cd /var/www/redmine; bundle install;
bundle exec rake redmine:plugins:migrate NAME=redmine_contacts RAILS_ENV=production
Restart Redmine

Or just move in new files & run migrate?

$ rm -r /var/www/redmine/plugins/redmine_contacts
$ mv new-version_of_redmine_contacts_CRM to /var/www/redmine/plugins/redmine_contacts
$ cd /var/www/redmine; bundle install;
$ bundle exec rake redmine:plugins:migrate NAME=redmine_contacts RAILS_ENV=production
Restart Redmine

Invenio has generated an connector to link Redmine Tickets to Polarion Issues and vice versa.
You also can genrate Redmine Tickets that contains the information of the Polarion Issue - inclusive weblinks at both sides....
Plugins: RE: Suggestions for agile/roadmap pluginhttps://www.redmine.org/boards/3/topics/54730?r=67938#message-679382022-12-13T14:22:01ZDimitar (RedmineUP)

May be I should config the whole database like utf8mb4 in config/database.yml then perform database migration, but I didn't tested this method.
