Redmine Redmine - Defect #12833 (Closed): Input fields restricted on length should have maxlength paramet...https://www.redmine.org/issues/128332013-01-13T18:18:50ZHarald Glock

When entering the subject of a ticket/issue or writing a comment in the timelog, you can enter as many characters in the input field as you want. But if you entered more then 255 characters, this will give an error later when sending it to the redmine instance ("... too long (maximum 255 characters)").

It would be better if the HTML input field already has the maxlength parameter set to 255 then. Having this parameter set, you cannot enter more than maxlength characters into the input field. Thus, the user would immediately recognize that he cannot enter more characters instead of getting an error later when he already typed the too long input.

I just checked for the 2 mentioned input fields, there are probably a lot more of them.
Redmine - Feature #12668 (New): Repository settings: Make default branch to show configurablehttps://www.redmine.org/issues/126682012-12-22T14:44:20ZHarald Glock

I'm using redmine for git repository tracking.
Most of the repositories do not use the master (default) branch.

I would be nice, if one could select the default branch to show in the repository settings for each repository. If the selected branch does not exist, fallback to the default branch ("master" in case of git).

Background: E.g. when having the Linux Kernel git repository showing with redmine, this normally needs some seconds (this is a huge repository). Now, whenever you click on the repository, then some seconds are needed to display the master branch. Then, when you select the branch you really want to look at, it takes another some seconds.

Don't know if this is more or less git specific or if other SCMs like SVN, mercurial would also benefit from such a feature.
Redmine - Feature #11990 (New): fetch_changesets should have parameter for repository https://www.redmine.org/issues/119902012-09-28T18:38:02ZHarald Glock

To trigger the update of a git repository (or other SCM), a special URL can be called.
Explained here: http://www.redmine.org/projects/redmine/wiki/HowTo_setup_automatic_refresh_of_repositories_in_Redmine_on_commit

The call to this URL currently supports 2 parameters:

key: the WS key
id : the project numeric id or project identifier

As redmine supports multiple repositories per project now, it would be nice to have an additional parameter, so that only a specific repository can be selected to be updated.
Normally, this trigger URL will be called by some hook script of one repository and it does not make sense to update all repositories of a project then.
Redmine - Feature #8527 (New): Add configurable info string on login pagehttps://www.redmine.org/issues/85272011-06-04T09:25:55ZHarald Glock

I'm using redmine at my company together with LDAP authentification and user auto-creation. Works like a charm.

However, historically grown, we have different logins (user/pw) for some tools. Therefore, users keep asking me which login to use for the redmine site.
It would be helpful to have an additional info on login page that gives users the information which login to use.
This could be an optional, configurable string in the admin menu.
