Howto Upgrade Redmine 0.8.5 to 0.8.x and beyond¶

Hello all!!

Can someone point me on howto upgrade everything from version to version
I've been searching thru different search-engine's and forums for a while now and haven't got any resource link and just got bumps

1. I have gone thru the changelog of 0.8.4 to 0.8.9 there wasn't any discussion of db-schema change so I assume the following

This is my scenario¶

I have redmine 0.8.5 installed and I wanted to upgrade to 0.8.7

1. I already got 0.8.7 running
2. I just changed the config/database.yml to point to my old db-0.8.5 credentials (is this the correct way?)

What I need is some enlightenment from redmine-dev team¶

1. To verify redmine-dev if just changing db-credentials is "A OK" thru different minor-revisions z (x.y.z where z is the minor-revisions) or am I just assuming about the project structure version*ing* ?
2. What if i moved to minor-versions y to y (x.y.z) e.g. 0.8.x to 0.9.x ?
3. and also major-versions
