Email addresses of redmine.org users are publicly visible.

I think this is a privacy issue. I would like to happily contribute to the community but i am concerned that everyone (incl. bots) can access my email from redmine.org (by clicking any user's name). That's why i have provided an email address which i dont use so much so that if any spambot catches it, i will be free.

It is not: You can chose to either display your email on your public profile or to hide your email address.
This is done in you profile via the checkbox "Hide my email address".

Site administrators can, of course, always see full account details.

Thanks. I forgot about that option. It is now hidden :)

So you are right, as long as we have the option to hide our email addresses. It is not a privacy issue.
