ActionMailer with Gmail error message: "Errno::EAFNOSUPPORT (Address family not supported by protocol - socket(2))"

Has anyone found success running Gmail using only IPv4? Due to network structure, we'd prefer to not implement IPv6 handling, so I've disabled all IPv6 network traffic on the server.
I have the configuration setup (using Gmail) and the email usually sends(>80% roughly), but occasionally emails will fail to be generated, accompanied by the mentioned error message (condensed-error.log).
OS: Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm)
