Shameless plug: Pepper - new theme

Added by Jakob Skjerning over 13 years ago

Ever since I started using Redmine for my company, I have used a home-made theme resembling the look and feel of my company website. That never really was optimal so I wanted something better.

While there are many fine Redmine themes out there, I didn’t really feel any of them looked like I’d like them to.

So I designed and built my own and I've releasing it for the greater good. You can get it at https://github.com/koppen/redmine-pepper-theme and there's more info and screenshots at http://mentalized.net/journal/2011/06/27/pepper_-_a_redmine_theme/. And I have of course added it to the themes page.

I'd love to hear your feedback.

I've tested some themes for Redmine but so far I've sticked to the default layout, which is good to use - but feels a bit boring/static.

Pepper is the best theme I've seen so far! Seems better than the default. Smooth design, while keeping the usability. Thanks!

A few comments:

- In Opera the "Jump to a project..." is not displayed when loading the page, which gives a "flicker" effect everytime loading a page. Posted an issue on Github.
- I like the simple design, but the main menu looks a bit too much like clean text IMHO. Maybe make it a bit more like the tabs? Possible quick enhanchment: change font-weight: bold to eg. color: #429312 on the selected element. That way it will be easier to see the current page, and the width of the menu will stay the same when browsing as well

Thanks for you good work! =)

Happy to hear that you like the theme! :) And thanks for the feedback.

In order to not fragment things too much, lets discuss the Opera issue over on Github.

As for the main menu feedback, I get where you're coming from. But I'm not sure what to do about it without sacrificing the clean looks or making the currently selected navigation item stand out too much.

I'll have to try out some different options.

Tried it. Loved it.

(and not because you named it after me).

Beautiful while still pretty light on the system ... congrats! I think it will end up as my new default themes ;)

What would I need to do to add color code depending on the issue priority (or some other condition)? I had cloned the git, have ruby, sass and compass but I still cannot compile the css (not sure what I am doing wrong) :-/

Thanks! :)

And thanks for the issue reports, Fabio

Is there a redmin 1.4 version?

RE: Shameless plug: Pepper - new theme - Added by Jakob Skjerning over 12 years ago

Noone has reported any bugs or submitted any patches for issues with Redmine 1.4, so I presume the theme works out of the box on 1.4.

I have yet to upgrade or give it a look-through myself, though - are you seeing any problems?

An error message in production.log suggested it was the theme but after study I found it related to a bad database migration.

I have seen on GITHUB that you have a 2.0 branch.

Is it ready ?

Master is now targeting Redmine 2.0 and should work just fine. If not, I'd love to see bugreports,or - even better - pull requests.

If you're still on the Remind 1.x line, master is probably going to work for you as well. If not, try the redmine_1.4 branch.

Shameless plugs are great, Redmine needs more skins! :)
