Can I load the database from one redmine install to another wholesale?

Added by abx 1954 over 14 years ago

Here's the deal:

I installed Redmine via Bitnami. Started using it at work, set up all of our projects etc. Liked Redmine, absolutely hated the speed at which it ran. I figured this was because of Bitnami. So I made a little Archlinux VM and got Redmine running. Incredibly faster - it's great!

But I don't want to lose all the tickets I've made, users, etc. So, if I basically dump the entire redmine database from my Bitnami windows installation, then reload it into my linux installation...will that work? Is there a better way?

Apart from obvious places like the path to a repository that might change, that should work, just make sure both installations are the same version and don't run any migration before loading the dump into the db.
