Creating a default project

I am using redmine but at this point I am only tracking one project. Is there anyway I can configure a default project so that when users log in they are automatically taken to this projects page?

I have tried the following 301 redirect in the htaccess file but had no luck.

redirect 301 "/" "http://ncusnyncore:3001/projects/show/project/"

I think this is a relatively simple question but I am lost. Please help, thanks.
