Upgrading Redmine 1.0.0 to 1.0.4

Added by Klemens Muthmann over 13 years ago

Hi,

I installed Redmine 1.0.0 a while ago and now I want to upgrade to 1.0.4. However there are several steps I do not fully understand yet and since I already have some project data in my Redmine installation I really would like this to go smooth. So maybe someone can explain the following two points.

4. Copy the RAILS_ROOT/files directory content into your new installation.

--> I do not have a RAILS_ROOT environment variable. Where do I find RAILS_ROOT (Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and everything installed from the repositories)

6. Run the following command from your Redmine root directory:

--> Which root directory? The new or the old one?

Thanks and Regards

If you have installed redmine from the deb package, this tutorial is half moot either way because the deb redmine is patched to adhere to the debian filesystem guidelines. These changes happen downstream though, so I don't know the specifics. You might want to add "debian package" or "ubuntu package" to the title of your thread, or to contact the debian maintainer directly.

Oh no. You got me wrong. I meant I installed Ruby and so on over the package manager. Redmine was installed manually. (Did not even know that there is a package available)

Or the packaged version was to old in my opinion ... can not really remember why I did not use that one. So I am stuck with manually upgrading by now.
