Just wondering: How do users get notified about new versions of projects?

When a new release comes the following happens (at least I do these things):

• I put a file into Files tab for a version;
• I close this version.

This indicates that there is a new version of a project users can download...

How can users subscribe to this / watch this?..

At least users should be able to watch version changes. Does such functionality exist? Did not find it...

If it does not I will perhaps write a plugin (see this issue on my site). Just do not want to do what is already done. And it would be really strange if it was not done yet. :)

For example, how can I be notified about new versions of Redmine?.. :S
