Merge plugin

Added by Chris Darts about 13 years ago

I would like to merge 2 Redmine databases and after some initial searching the only option I can find is the Merge plugin developed by Eric Davis (https://projects.littlestreamsoftware.com/projects/redmine-merge).

I tried it on Redmine 1.1.2, but it produced the following error:

Mysql::Error: Duplicate entry '50-1' for key 'projects_trackers_unique': INSERT INTO `projects_trackers` (`project_id`, `tracker_id`) VALUES (50, 1)

Does anyone know if it's worth me perusing this plugin on the latest version of Redmine, or should I give up and look elsewhere?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

The plugin is not maintained and had a limited scope to begin with.

Felix - thanks for the quick reply.

Do you have any ideas how this could achieved using other available plugins or tools?

Other than updating that plugin or doing something similar to what the plugin does by hand, no. If you need someone to help you out with that, you could try contacting Eric (the original author), but AFAIK he's currently quite busy and not involved with Redmine that much anymore, or see if the PlanIO guys (probably Jan) can help you, you'll find contact information for both on the CommercialOfferings page.

I've used this plugin myself some time ago and had to hack some things in, but it's long ago and hacky enough that I don't think I'd be doing you favor by digging out the code, sorry.

+1

I've two versions of Redmine running within my intranet. One that I adopted way back in 0.8.7 (which has now become the corporate standard) and one that I deployed last month in 1.1. Both are being used for different purposes, so their UIs and strings are different. Given the popularity of both in my organization, I'm looking for a way to merge the 2 databases so that I can keep multiple apps but hiving off the same DB.

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
