How to disable notification mails?

Hi All.
My name is David. My company just upgraded our redmine to the stable 4.04 version. We have over 100+ employees in our company and we use our personalized outlook for notification. After the upgrade, there was an immense spike in our mail traffic due to individual notification. And, we seems to face an error from outlook, saying our user sending quota has been exceeded.
Any way to disable the individual notification mail? I'd love to have a suggestion or workaround. Last I checked this thread: http://www.redmine.org/boards/1/topics/56905
There wasn't any fix. Pls help me or should I contact Microsoft to increase our limit?
