Applying Letter Boxed-Style Thinking to Task Management in Redmine
Added by Hellen charless about 15 hours ago
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share an interesting perspective I’ve been exploring while working with Redmine for project and issue tracking.
Recently, I noticed strong similarities between managing tasks in Redmine and solving Letter Boxed–style puzzles. In Letter Boxed, you must connect letters strategically while respecting constraints — every move affects the next one. You can’t just solve one step independently; you have to think ahead.
Project management often works the same way:
Tasks depend on previous outcomes
Resources are limited
Planning ahead reduces unnecessary steps
Efficient sequencing leads to faster completion
When organizing issues, watchers, and workflows in Redmine, I started treating the project like a puzzle board — focusing on minimizing task switching and ensuring each completed task naturally leads into the next.
This mindset actually helped me:
Structure issue dependencies more clearly
Reduce workflow bottlenecks
Improve sprint planning decisions
Think more strategically about task transitions
I’m curious if others here use game-style or puzzle-based thinking methods when planning projects or managing workflows in Redmine.
Do you think gamified problem-solving approaches like Letter Boxed can help teams improve planning and productivity?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
