project hierarchy vs. project tree, when setting up a Version for a project

can anyone help me understand the difference between "Sharing a project with the project hierarchy" and "Sharing a project with the project tree" when setting up a Version for a project?

Both include all subprojects of the project where the version is created. They differ in which projects are included on the way back 'up' to the root, or top level project.
Hierarchy means the version will appear in its parent projects, back up to the master top-level project.
Tree means it will appear in the entire tree, which is the master top-level project and all of its children. Any other unrelated top-level projects and their children will not be included.
There are some mockups over at the wiki page about it, if that helps. I can't help thinking this explanation should be at the actual wiki page for Versions, too.
