Migrating Redmine 1.4.4 from CentOS 6.3 to Windows Server 2012

Added by Jason Thayer over 8 years ago

Hello everyone!

Straight out - I'm a complete noob. I do not have much Linux experience and I have inherited something of a difficult situation. And I fully recognize it is no one's responsibility on this site to help me whatsoever. I am simply going to lay out the issue as best I can and hope you can guide me toward a solution. Sincere appreciation and thanks in advance for anything you may be able to offer!

Basically this organization is running Redmine 1.4.4 on a CentOS 6.3 system. I have inherited the responsibility to manage this, but I have no linux experience and do not have the resources to become an expert. The previous admin is not around anymore and cannot assist in any way.

My immediate solution for this is to attempt to install the Windows version on our Windows 2012 server, and migrate the data and projects to it, with the hope of minimizing the disruption to the end users. Then I can at least make sure the data is backed up and learn how to admin it from there.

Starting with first things first:

Is there a version of Redmine that will run on Windows Server 2012 (I think so but want to be sure)?
Is it possible to install that and then migrate data from Redmine 1.4.4 on CentOS to the new Windows install?
Where would I start to do that, or do you know of a resource I could hire to assist as a last resort?

This should get us started.

Again, sincere thanks for any information and help you can offer. I'm in deep here.

Best,
Jason :)
