Trying to make LAGG interfaces work

I have a pfsense firewall with a XenServer on the other end with two non-stackable switches in between.
I have set the XenServer as Active-Backup and set up the LAGG interfaces on pfsense as failover. (It's just two ports)
This solves my issue if one of the interfaces goes down it will switch to the other one.
The problem is if the primary interface goes down and comes back up it will go back to the primary interface instead of staying on the secondary while traffic is still staying over the secondary interface.
I can't find something online that has a setting I can tweak in order to make this work I was hoping you guys has something.
