Redmine

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere, but various searches of the forum have not found anything similar.

I have installed bitnami-redmine-0.8.5.0 under Windows XP SP2 and Redmine is working OK. However, I cannot get the sending of emails to work. I have edited the email.yml file with hopefully correct values. However if I use the Send Test Email button under the administration pages, I get the error:

An error occurred while sending mail (501 Syntactically invalid HELO argument(s) )

If I add a mailer.rb file into ...redmine\config\initializers as shown in the how to guide, then when I reboot the machine, I get two ruby.exe processes which continuously occupy 100% CPU time, and if I try to connect to redmine I get the following message on my browser:

Proxy Error

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /redmine/.

Reason: Error reading from remote server

Assistance would be greatly appreciated. I should also say that I have no experience of Ruby, rails etc. so step by step instructions are required.

BTW tried to get the status info as requested in the 'How to request help' pae in the forum, but this doesn't work in any directory that I have tried.
