When filing a ticket, that's often when i have the relationship to another ticket in mind. Having to finish writing the issue, save it, and then remember to add the related issue always adds a bit of cognitive overhead.
A flip side of #38839 but these are my main user experience hurdles with Redmine.
For this one, "slash commands" (like /relate #38839) that can be put into descriptions and notes and act on save would work for me also.

Or, rather than GitLab-style slash commands, maybe Redmine commit message keywords could be extended to work in notes also and expanded to include more functionality.
