Is i18n mandatory?

Added by Ivan Cenov over 13 years ago

Hi,

is i18n mandatory?

Here is the list of installed plugins in my installation:

C:\Documents and Settings\imc>gem list --local

*** LOCAL GEMS ***

actionmailer (2.3.5)
actionpack (2.3.5)
activerecord (2.3.5)
activeresource (2.3.5)
activesupport (2.3.5)
bundler (1.0.2)
cgi_multipart_eof_fix (2.5.0)
edavis10-object_daddy (0.4.3)
gem_plugin (0.2.3)
mocha (0.9.8)
mongrel (1.1.5 x86-mingw32)
mongrel_service (0.3.4 i386-mswin32)
mysql (2.8.1 x86-mingw32)
rack (1.0.1)
rails (2.3.5)
rake (0.8.7)
RedCloth (4.2.2 x86-mswin32-60)
shoulda (2.11.3, 2.10.3)
win32-service (0.5.2 mswin32)

There is no i18n there. Nevertheless, Redmine is working very well; we use it in Bulgarian (Cyrillic); no any weird characters. So is i18n inevitabble, what does it add to Redmine functioning?

hey

good question. it seems that it is only used when it is installed. thats why installing i18n v 0.5.0 produces problems.
uninstalling it and installation of v 0.4.0 solves it. don't know why this all happens but its what I found out.

ciao matthias

Hi,

But how to tell what i18n adds to Redmine? It's mystery for me. So I'm going to keep it away until Redmine says that it needs it for something very special.
