Assigned To: Pull from LDAP

I'm using LDAP authentication, but it appears that users must first log in before their account exists in the system and can be assigned to a project and therefore assigned issues. Is there a facility for assigning issues to any user selected from a drop down populated by LDAP?

No, redmine can't pull from LDAP, only authenticate against it. There are some plugins/patches floating around the forum or the tracker, can't remember where it was, that are able to bulk import a whole LDAP tree into redmine without the need for the users to login prior to that.
