Problem witth links to files on the server and sub-projects creation

Added by Maurizio Molinari about 14 years ago

Hi, I'm a newby in using redmine, so my questions might seem silly or could have already been answered to: 1) I want to insert, in an issue, a link to a file on the server where Redmine has been installed. I cannot, however, create this link even if I paste the path of the file which, for instance, in Microsoft Outlook is linkable. Do you have advise on how to do it? A second qquestion: when creating projects and subprojects, is it possible to have a third level i.e. a sub-subproject? If it's the case, how can I obtain this? Thanks in advance.

  1. You can link to any http:// file, but I fear you're trying to link to a file:// file, which is dependent on having windows, being in the right network, and probably to using internet explorer (if I can remember well, firefox for example will not display links to file:// files).
  2. 0.9 has infinite nesting, 0.8.x only has one level, you might need to upgrade your installation.

Dear Felix,
Thanks for replying.
For the sub-project issue we will check to have the latest Redmine version.
As for linkks to files, when you create a new project, there is a box in the form called “home page” which allows you to put a link to the server and this works correctly by us, everybody is using Internet Explorer by the way and everybody has Windows installed and is on the same network.
Would it be possible to have the same box in the form when you create or update an issue? Cuz there links to file don't seem to work at all.

I suppose if you just put the link per se in an issue description, it won't get parsed as a link. Have you tried the form "Some Text":YOUR_LINK?
