Linking to a project overview page using a wiki-link?

Added by Eric Wilson almost 14 years ago

I would like to easily cross reference to the overview page for other projects from within my wikis.

Preferably I would like to use a simple internal wikilink as opposed to the full url which can be tough to remember. The closest I can get is [[project_name:]] which takes me to the wiki for that project, is there possibly an undocumented alternative syntax that will take me to the overview page instead?

Also, as a workaround I went ahead and tried moving the overview text to the default wiki page for the project then under settings/description I entered

Error executing the include macro (Page not found)
so I would not have to maintain 2 copies of the description. This seems to work fine until you go to the project listing page and see a bunch of "Error executing the include macro (Page not found)" for your project descriptions.

I'm using version: Redmine 0.8.5.devel.2982 (MySQL)

oops I guess that wasn't a very good way to describe my include, it shold read:

"Also, as a workaround I went ahead and tried moving the overview text to the default wiki page for the project then under settings/description I entered { {include(Wiki)} } so I would not have to maintain 2 copies of the description. This seems to work fine until you go to the project listing page and see a bunch of "Error executing the include macro (Page not found)" for your project descriptions."

Doing an { {include(project_name:Wiki)} } resolves the errors I was getting but it still would be nice to be able to use a wiki-link to refer to the actual overview page for the project. So if anyone knows of a way to do that it would be appreciated.

What is wrong with a regular link? e.g

"Linkname":/projects/projectname

nothing other than it being hard to remember and keep track of. My reasons for wanting to do it this way are pretty much the same as the reasons for using the whole [[wiki-link:]] syntax.

Certainly, to link to a project's overview page using a simple internal wiki link, try this format: Overview.

In Redmine, you can create links to project overview pages using the format [[project_name:overview]]. This should take you directly to the project's overview. If you encounter issues, consider upgrading to a newer Redmine version for improved functionality.
