Can custom fields be assigned per ticket type?

Added by Marco Polo almost 14 years ago

Hi All,

I'm considering using Redmine to manage a project moreso than track bugs, and I was wondering if there is any way to create custom fields per ticket type. If there is a way to create custom subfields, this would accomplish the same purpose.

I know I'm not being clear, so let me give an example:
A user would select a ticket type from, let's say "foo request," "bar authorization," or "baz bug."

Now, to process a foo request, we will need to mandate data that we don't need for a baz bug. Just the same, to resolve a baz bug, we will have to mandate data that we don't need for a foo request. We want these fields to only show for the type of ticket they are associated with.

While it may sound simple to add fields for all three to each ticket, this is a problem, because in each case, different mandatory information is required. To put fill-ins for all three types of ticket on every ticket would mean a lot of additional clutter, as well as having to leave these fields optional.

So, is there a way to do what I'm asking? I know trac can do it, but I want to explore my options thoroughly.

Thanks!

The ticket custom fields can be attached to any of the trackers defined on your redmine installation, so if I got you correctly, this is a yes :-)
