Email notification to Assignee when issue is updated by customer through email

Hi,
We've been using Redmine as helpdesk at my school for a while, using IMAP poll.
I have recently updated to 2.4.1, and then 2.4.2.

Our users don't log on directly to Redmine, and just reply to the email notifications that Redmine sends them.
So far, this was working very well, but now Redmine does not send our technicians any email notification when that happens.

How can enable email notifications to the issue assignee when an issue is updated by the user/customer through email?

Please share any tips! I'm not scared to get dirty with modifying code!

so does that mean you had it working as you wanted it before?

Yes, it was working fine in a previous version of Redmine.

Hey,
We got it to work. We had it configured for delivery method :async_smtp. We switched to :smtp, and now all notifications arrive.
Do you know why this could be? Any ideas?

hmm.

maybe your mail server doesn't accept queued mail anymore?

i assume your configuration.yml settings are the same for both async and synchronous
