Administrator ability to alter status.

I have a query...

I have set up a status called "requires sign off" and ammended the workflow so that only my "signee" role can change the status from "requires sign off" to anything else.

This works fine but I am on the project but not as the "signee" role but I am an administrator and I cant alter the status.

Is this how it should work?

Admins can't get around the workflow, i.e. you need to have a role with the permission to change the status, whether you are an administrator or not.
