Historically, how well have upgrades gone in the past?

Added by levi rosol over 15 years ago

I'm looking at using redmine, and really only have one question so far. How well have upgrades to newer versions gone for people in the past, and how much focus is put on making upgrades easy in the future?

From the forum search I did, it appears that upgrades are pretty straight forward, but I'd like to get feed back from others on their experiences.

I've been using it since the 6.x days, and on a more esoteric setup (InstantRails on Windows) and the upgrades have always gone fine without a hitch. I'm running the 8.0 version now. The only hiccup I had (not a rails/ruby person) is figuring out how to get InstantRails up to the latest requirements, but someone posted a suggestion within a couple of hours after I asked on the board and it worked perfectly.
Note that I don't integrate with SVN, although we do use it with our Visual Studio development

thanks for the info. your world sounds like it's similar to mine. If we do use this, it will be on a windows box. I could go the route of getting ruby setup manually, but will more than likely resort to using InstantRails as well.

We will use SVN, and 99% of all of our development is in Visual Studio. Are there any tools integrated with VS for redmine?

Honestly, I keep Redmine and SVN separate - that's just my own preference. I haven't seen anything integrated between Redmine and Visual Studio. I can't honestly say I can come up with a reason to integrate those two. What were you thinking of doing with such integration?

Here's a link to what I experienced moving from Redmine 7.4 to 8.0, just FYI; http://www.redmine.org/boards/1/topics/show/3477
