using filters different in 3.4.6??

We have Redmine 3.4.6.
This version does not seem to work as I am familiar with prior versions with regards to using a filter in a query.
When trying to create a custom query, I don't know what I am missing, but I cannot figure out how I can properly setup a filter.
If I wanted to create a query that showed all open issues, you would choose a filter on the field 'Status' and then criteria would appear to choose 'Open'.
The criteria of 'Open' does not appear when I choose the 'Status' field filter.
Please help.
I wonder if 3.4.6-1 would have any fix for this.
