Migrating from server to cloud question

I am definitely newbie to redmine and this community. Say hello to everyone!
Recently I get involved to this project, which is migrating our existing redmine from a web server to a cloud. I want to know which way I should go with.
1) Backup MySQL database, restore it on a standard redmine image on the cloud. (It sounds make sense to me, but really not sure how to do it)
2) Make a image of current Linux server, and load it on the cloud.
3) Any suggestion from you
I am sure we don't want to loss any data we have. And now I am just play with Amazon cloud.
Any suggestions or comments are appreciated.
