Why Some Redmine Instances do not support basic auth

Why some Redmine instances do not support basic auth for example Redmine.org
1) Logout from Redmine.org
2) Open http://www.redmine.org/users/current.json
3) Enter username and password in the popup dialog
4) Redmine.org keep popping up the username/password dialog even I have enter the correct username and password
Is anyone knows why, please help!
