Redmine

Hey,
We've got some trouble here. We have a (git) repository previously managed with redmine, using references in commit message like "... #1234 ..."
And we need to import it into a new redmine project.

problem is : references would be wrong. So what is the best practice to manage that ?
I could try to force the auto-increment of the new tracker or something like that. But I need some advises or feedback.
