How to automatically set a user as watcher on a new issue?

I want to do the following: If a new issue on the tracker 'Support' is created, a certain user should automatically be set as a watcher of this new ticket.
How can I do this with Redmine?

I just found a patch for this in #8568. Perhaps it will work with Redmine 1.3.x, I will test it.
