redmine with openldap

I have a openLDAP server, and a Redmine server. I am trying to authenticate through LDAP. I can see in the LDAP logs that Redmine binds using the credentials I gave it, and the bind is successful, but there is no attempt either in the test or in any attempt to login to query the LDAP database using the base dn I provided to obtain the users. I am running the Redmine-Debian package.
