Updating Redmine version on production enviroment

First of all...
Happy new year, folks!
Well... i have the following question:
How can i update the version of Redmine to the newest release mantaining the data of the previous version?
How integrity of the new schema will be mantained?
I'm considering that some changes were made on tables, despite of new issues.
