Volunteers Shifts Management
Added by Miki Jeshurun 7 days ago
Hi Friends, nice to be here.
I just installed Redmine as a docker app for usage testing for the non-profit organization I volunteer at.
Can more experienced Redmine users tell me if it's possible to use Redmine to manage a volunteers shifts timetable?
We have around 1000 volunteers in our district.
We need to assign them into groups, and based on the groups they are in, the volunteers will have permissions to self-register as volunteers for specific events.
If possible, shifts notifications and reminders will be useful.
Can this be done with Redmine?

Redmine is more geared towards a ticket system with a scheduling granularity measured in days. As such, it is likely not well suited for shift management (with shifts measures in hours) or group-based self-registration. Here, something like the engelsystem may be more useful which is used to track volunteer shifts during most events by the Chaos Computer Club.
However, Redmine may well be useful to accentuate your event planing and organisation by using it to track and handle any tasks which arise or need to be done in addition to the shifts.

Thank you for the tip and suggestion.
I will look into it.
Not a lot of information about Engelsystem. And I'm not very tech savvy to figure everything alone.
