Turkey has much lower fluctuations in demand over the year than all the other countries comprised by this study. The major reason for this is the high share of gas taken by power generation and industry, which in its turn reflects a typical demand pattern in an emerging gas market. Gas consumption in the month with the highest gas consumption in 1996 was only 46% higher than the month with the lowest gas consumption.
