[[file://somepath/somefile.html]] does not work
[[http://google.com]] does work
In our case we sometimes use file:// to link to documents that are located somewhere at a network storage that is used by our team. Actually there is no way to link this and to open the linked file just with one click.
Maybe redmine could also allow file:// to be used inside sometext tags
