Description

Current behavior:
Currently, when the "% Done" of a subtask increases, the "% Done" of the parent issue is automatically updated to reflect it. However, the status of the parent issue remains "New" unless it is manually updated.

Desired behavior:
I would like a feature or a setting that automatically changes the status of a parent issue from "New" to "In Progress" (or the corresponding active status) when at least one of its subtasks' status is changed from "New" to "In Progress".

Background:
Currently, users often forget to manually update the parent issue's status when they start working on its subtasks. As a result, our dashboard aggregates show a large number of issues with the "New" status. Upon checking the details, we find that the work is not actually stalled; rather, the subtasks are progressing, but the parent issue was simply left as "New".
Since the progress percentage (% Done) advances automatically, we strongly feel that the status should automatically change as well.

Use case / Problem to solve:

There is an unnatural discrepancy: the parent issue's progress moves automatically depending on subtasks, but its status remains "New".

When searching for unstarted (New) issues, these parent issues almost always show up in the results, even though actual work on their subtasks has already begun.

While it might be possible to exclude them using custom filters, we believe that the current specification (where progress advances but the status remains "New") is counterintuitive.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could consider this improvement to make the system behavior more consistent. Thank you!
