Vacation Messages replaces hand-maintained absence notes with a small, self-service workflow.

Every user maintains their own absences under "My account -> Absences" (managers and admins can maintain them for everyone). An absence has a period, a text, an optional substitute and decides who gets to see it: everyone, logged-in users, members of shared or selected projects (optionally including subprojects), or selected users and groups.

For that audience the absence shows up as:

• an optional coloured banner on top of every page, with a configurable lead time ("soon absent") and a live preview; viewers can hide it for the day
• a warning when an issue is assigned to someone who is absent or will be soon
• an "absent" badge next to every link to that user, plus a list on the user profile
• an absence overview (global and as project tab)
• a block for My page, the home page and dashboards of the additionals plugin, either for selected people or for everyone

No additional gems, no build step. Translations: English, German.
